Outfit of the Day - Preggy floral

This is another post which is late in coming. I took some outfit pics in my last trimester but was too tired to put up posts and blog. So am sharing this outfit now.

This is one of few formal outfits which were still fitting me in the 8th month of pregnancy. I bought this dress in Korea and paired it with the round purse that I bought in Spain. Added a pair of blue heels and I was done!

Outfit of the Day - Red bag

I styled today's outfit around this gorgeous red bag that I received from CNDirect. Given the lovely red color of the bag, I decided to pair it with a black and white dress and white platform wedges. And as a finishing touch, I added my favorite red lipstick.

I think the bag looks quite striking against the dress. What do you think? Do you like the OOTD?

Outfit of the Day - Red

Today's outfit is inspired by celebrities. I have seen many celebrities pairing a formal white shirt with different types of skirts. So I decided to pair my long red skirt with a white formal shirt and white platform heels.

After the last outfit post, I am loving the idea of adding a traditional element to my outfits. And so I added a round traditional purse to this outfit. Love the way it blends with the outfit. I also added a black and white choker necklace and my favorite red lipstick to complete the outfit.

Outfit of the day - for Haider

For those unfamiliar with Bollywood, Haider is a recent Bollywood movie which is an adaption of Shakespeare's Hamlet. The film is beautifully shot and the acting of the main characters is superb. It is set against the backdrop of Kashmir and the end will leave you disturbed. But the movie is a definite watch, especially to see how the director, Vishal Bhardwaj, has adapted the play to fit a piece of Indian history.

To see the movie, I wore my current favorite black top and a long wrap-around skirt which has traditional Indian shlokas written on it. The top is my current favorite since it is extremely hot in Mumbai and this top with lacy shoulder straps and a deep back is perfect to beat the heat. The long skirt is also perfect as it does not stick to the body and also keeps me warm in the cold theater :-)

I accessorized with a black and white choker necklace and my brown clutch. Have kept the look simple since the skirt makes quite an impact!

Outfit of the day - Gorgeous green

I bought this plain green dress from Forever 21 in the US. And I liked it so much that I bought the same dress in blue colour as well :-D (featured here). While I accessorized the blue dress with a statement necklace, I decided to do something different with the green dress.

The highlight of this outfit is the thick metal belt which breaks up the dress and provides visual appeal. I also added a pair of silver earrings and silver sandals and a white shrug to complete the outfit. Love the contrast of the white against the green!

Outfit of the day - Floral fix

Floral prints have been the rage for quite some time now. And I went with the flow when I got this grey floral tee on sale recently. I bought the floral lace jacket at the same time. Love the fit of the jacket! :-)

But what makes this outfit stand out are the lovely floral earrings that I received from the Born pretty store (they are called snowflake earrings). The earrings contain a cluster of six stone studded flowers and would look lovely with a casual or a party look. I paired them with my floral top and jeans, and just the earrings quite glam up the look.

Outfit of the Day - Fantastic Floral

I received this gorgeous floral dress from Sheinside and it was instant love! With its cream colour, the beautiful floral print, which is mainly concentrated on the sides, is well highlighted.

The material of this dress is stretch cotton which is of very good quality. Even my tailor commented on the material and said it was very good. The dress was a bit loose and also too long for me. So I had it taken in at the waist and had the length reduced. I left the the extra material at the hips as it is. This gives the dress a retroesque (is that a word?) tulip shape that I really liked :-)

I styled the dress with a narrow blue belt, blue shoes and white and red earrings to bring out the colours of the print. What I like about the dress that it can be worn formally to office and also as a party dress!

Fun with friends :)

It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" - A.A. Milne

So my group of friends met up for lunch again after our meeting at Mai Tai a couple of months back. We decided to meet at Mamagoto in Bandra. Mamagoto has an extensive menu with lots of choices. All of us love the food there!

As always, it was a lot of giggling and laughing, swapping stories, pulling each other's legs and wolfing down the food. Its always so good to catch up with this group of friends. And we had a special reason to meet up this time. One of them is moving out of town for further studies. So we don't know when the six of us will meet up again - probably not for a very long time.

So we had a sort of farewell lunch and then went out for a photo shoot which was a barrel of laughs. Mamagoto has this signature yellow tiger design which served as a good background for us! We even got someone to take a group pic which was like our "Friends" moment ;-)

I am sharing below a few pics from that day. You can see we are quite a quirky lot from the pics :D

Outfit of the day - Pleats!

I was a bit skeptical when I bought this dress recently since I generally wear dresses with a pencil skirt as such dresses suit me the best. But I fell in love with this dress and decided to buy it.

I wore it to an engagement party and also to see the movie "2 States". And everyone, including my parents, in-laws, niece and friends loved it :-) But would love to know what you think about it!

And the surprising thing is, just after I bought the dress, I read that pleats are the in thing right now! I generally do not follow fashion trends and just wear what I like and feel comfortable in. So it was a lovely surprise to know that pleats are in trend and so are the big pearls :-) I paired the dress with the blue clutch from my recent haul post to provide that pop of colour.

The pics have been taken with the light behind me. As such, my face is in shadow but this shows off the dress beautifully. (all pic courtesy goes to hubby!)

Outfit of the Day - Chicnova white

I had been waiting eagerly for my parcel from Chicnova to arrive and it did a few days back! I was so excited to see the lovely eye print high low dress. Generally I am do not wear much of white because I am more into bright colors (as you would have noticed in my previous posts ;-)). Also, this is my first high low dress and I was not sure how it would look on my petite frame.

But this dress is just lovely. And the high low is not very pronounced. So I am liking it very much! It turned out to be a bit sheer and hence I bought a full slip for it. With that done, the dress looks just wonderful. Its very comfortable and chic and I can dress it up in different ways :-)

I have shown below two different ways in which I styled the dress - one funky, the other one casual.

Look 1: When I saw the dress, the first thing I thought of was boots! So in my first look, I wore boots. They felt a bit hot because of the sun, but these boots are perfect for rainy and winter season. I used a green bag, green jewellery and a pink watch to add pops of color.

Outfit of the Day - Statement

Having Friday as casual day in office is so nice. It puts me in the weekend mood from Friday morning itself :)

So just another casual outfit. I chose my favorite black tee-shirt (this is my comfort tee-shirt - no matter what mood I am in, I can wear this one and always feel comfortable and happy) and blue jeans. I added a statement necklace and a bright red purse so that outfit would not be boring!

Outfit of the Day - Embroidery

When I saw the embroidered material, I knew I had to have it. So I bought it and decided to make a simple kurta out of it. Thankfully, the tailor made it very nicely :) (My tailor tends to never make my clothes in my size - they will be either very loose or very tight! And this is despite taking my measurement everytime I go to him. But overall, he is a talented tailor - so I continue with him...)

Since the kurta was so heavily embroidered, I kept the churidaar and dupatta very simple (for those who are unfamiliar, a dupatta is a piece of cloth worn over the shoulders with salwar-kameez or kurta-churidaar). I like the overall effect of balance this provides. And to keep it nice and traditional, I am wearing lovely jhumkis in my ears, a matching necklace and a bunch of bangles.

Outfit of the day - its cold!!

Its become quite cold these days, particularly by Mumbai standards. So I have had to dress up quite warm for office. Below is what I wore to office today - a simple and warm dress in dull winters colours with a pop of pink by way of nail colour.
