Its Diwali!!!! the biggest Hindu festival. It celebrates the victory of good over evil. It is the festival of lights, though in many places it has deteriorated into bursting a lot of crackers and creating pollution. :(
Anyways, I celebrate Diwali by lighting lamps and making rangoli. It also involves wearing new clothes, doing Lakshmi Pooja and eating loads of sweets :)
Below are the pics of the rangolis I made this year. The first one was a lot of effort and took around 2 hours. The second one was made with a predesigned net and took just 5 mins. Hope you like both! :)
PS (I am out for the week): I know I have been very lax in replying to comments and visiting blogs. I have been really, really busy at work. And currently I am on a vacation to the South of India. I will be back next weekend and will very eagerly reply to comments and visit all the blogs. Please bear with me till then! :)

DeleteHappy Diwali too! I am crazy about it!The best part was "eating lots of sweets!" I actually got introduced to Diwali and other celebrations by one of my best friends, who was born in Mumbai. Through her, my love for other celebrations - that was already huge - grew a lot more! I guess you had seen me wearing my favorite items - Indian and in general Asian dresses and skirts! My latest 2 posts showed them, and you will see many more like that! So I can only say, thank you for the wishes and a very happy Diwali too! denisesplanet com
ReplyDeleteLovely to know that you are familiar with Diwali :)

I love Diwali, and I was introduced to it by a very very good friend of mine, who got married to a German, but always celebrates her traditional dates - she was born in Mumbai. So, my love for Asian/Indian celebrations was already big, but grew a lot more after I met her 9 years ago! I hope you have a great week and happy Diwali too!
