Off to New York!

As the title suggests, I am off to New York for 3 weeks! So excited. Unfortunately have not been able to post before leaving as I have been very busy. The next 3 weeks will also be very very busy in training in NY. So I will not have time to blog, reply to comments or read your blogs for the next 3 weeks :-(

Please bear with me. I know I do this often, but during a journey, I rarely have time to blog.

But I will be back in 3 weeks and will love to share my NY experience with you. Till then, wish you a Merry Christmas.

Have a blast!

Happy Birthday blog and outfit of the day

I started 'Everything That Clicks' in November last year as a whim since I love clothes. It was uncharacteristic since I am extremely photo shy. But I thought it would be fun and something different to occupy time. But I never realized how important this blog would become. It has made me understand things about myself and has made me experiment with my style. And now I can't imagine not having a blog :)

I also did not imagine that I would get such support for the blog. And for that, I want to thank you all very much. I love to read your comments and I hope you keep visiting!

My blog actually took off only in January of this year and so I plan to celebrate another blog birthday in January of next year.I will also have a giveaway then. So watch out for it!

Moving on to the outfit, I chose a dress with a busy print and paired it with stockings and boots. I bought these boots recently for a trip I will be taking soon. I will let you know about that next week :) Of course, the boots were a bit big (no surprise there!), but after putting two insoles, they fit perfectly :) Since the print of the dress is so busy, I only paired it with my nude and gold clutch and big earrings.

So let me know what you think!

Outfit of the day - Cream and black

I featured this Mango dress in my sale haul. I wore it this week to go shopping with mom :)

The dress was a bit wide at the bottom. So I got it narrowed from hip downwards. And I paired it with plain black pumps and a black sling bag. This sling bag is one of my favorites!

And as for shopping, I bought a purse for my mom for her birthday. She really loves it! :)

So do you like my OOTD?

PS: I have included some pics at the end to show some of the nonsense during the shoot :D

Shoes: Mint Drop

A trip to the South

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I was on a week's trip to the south of India. It came about because my pop-in-law has been wanting to visit Kanyakumari for a very long time. So we decided on a nice week long trip to 4 places - Trivandrum (long name - Thiruvananthapuram), Kanyakumari (tip of India where 3 oceans meet), Rameshwaram and Madurai. I will dedicate this post to my vacation. Hope you enjoy seeing the pics of these places :) However, cameras were not allowed in most of the temples, and so there are not many interesting pics to share in a couple of these places

We made our hotel and car bookings through makemytrip.com. But the journey was planned by us, based on the whims and fancies of the family members :)

Our trip started with Trivandrum which is famous for the Padmanabhaswamy temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the principle deity is in the sleep posture. The temple is only open to Hindus and has a particular dress code (men need to wear mundus and women need to wear sarees. If a lady is not wearing a saree, she needs to tie a mundu around her waist - which is what I did). After visiting the temple, we went for a backwaters boat ride which was beautiful. One mistake we made was staying in a hotel in Trivandrum. The hotel (Seven Hills) was not very great. We realized later that the better hotels are located in Kovallum (just 17 km away from Trivandrum) which is famous for its beach. So if you are planning a trip to Trivandrum, book a hotel in Kovallum.

Since cameras were not allowed in the temple, I only have pics of the backwaters.

Happy Diwali!

Its Diwali!!!! the biggest Hindu festival. It celebrates the victory of good over evil. It is the festival of lights, though in many places it has deteriorated into bursting a lot of crackers and creating pollution. :(

Anyways, I celebrate Diwali by lighting lamps and making rangoli. It also involves wearing new clothes, doing Lakshmi Pooja and eating loads of sweets :)

Below are the pics of the rangolis I made this year. The first one was a lot of effort and took around 2 hours. The second one was made with a predesigned net and took just 5 mins. Hope you like both! :)

PS (I am out for the week): I know I have been very lax in replying to comments and visiting blogs. I have been really, really busy at work. And currently I am on a vacation to the South of India. I will be back next weekend and will very eagerly reply to comments and visit all the blogs. Please bear with me till then! :)

Outfit of the Day - not a favorite

I know this is a very odd title for a post. The reason for the title is that hubby did not like the dress I am wearing in this post when he first saw it. He felt it made me look dull and did not suit my small size.

Fortunately he liked it once I styled it with an orange belt, some large earrings and heels :)

So what do you think? How does this dress look on me? Do I need to shorten the length so that it will look better?

Outfit of the day - Bohemian

Those living in Mumbai would know what October is like. It is sweltering hot! So while most of the Northern hemisphere is welcoming autumn, it is hot and sunny here. And that's the reason for my bright and sunny outfit today :)

Maxi skirts have been in fashion for quite sometime now. And the biggest advantage of maxi skirts for someone as tiny as me is that it makes me look tall. :) I paired my maxi skirt with a fitted tee, a jhola bag and a statement necklace for a stylish look.

Maybelline Color Shows!

Sorry for having disappeared this past 2 weeks. Have been really busy at work and also playing lots of carrom!  We have been having some competitions in office alongside work and the only thing I know to play is carrom. So I participated in carrom matches for women at office and was quite surprised to have emerged the winner! I am so happy J And I have become so addicted to carrom that I purchased a carrom board this weekend. Hubby has no choice but to play with me now J

Anyways, to get on with the topic of the post, since I have been too busy to have taken any outfit pics, I decided to share pics of some of the nail polishes I bought last weekend and also a brief review on them. I came across Maybelline Color Shows on medplusbeauty.com and decided to check them out at a local store. While I am not much into nail art, I do love trying different colours and hence have too many nail polishes (as per hubby).

I love the cute little Maybelline Color Shows bottles and bought the 6 colours shown below. The nail polishes are decently priced (INR75 per bottle, though got them at INR63 per bottle at the local store) and have some lovely colors. To top it, the polishes have good pigmentation and 2 coats should be sufficient to get lovely coverage for most of the colours. The nail polish dries fast and hence the chances of scratches on the finished coating are very less.

Overall, these polishes are good value for money and offer lovely choices.

Would love to know if you have tried these polishes and your experience with them!

So which one is your favourite?

Outfit of the Day - Betty Boop!

Many of you loved this Betty Boop T-shirt when I showed it in my sale haul. Its really comfy, particularly in the current hot weather in Mumbai. I tucked it into a black pencil skirt for more structure (its quite flowy) and paired it with silver jewellery and a red purse.

Would love to have your suggestions on how you would style this T-shirt :)

And of course, hope you like this OOTD :)

Outfit of the day - Pop of red

Went to see the Lunchbox today. A lovely movie with an ambiguous ending. It was so nice to see an offbeat movie with no songs (except what the dabbawallas sang ;-)) and no masala.

While the movie is supposed to be set in current times, it gives more a feel of the 1980s, which I loved :)

So this is what I wore to watch the movie. For a pop of colour, I wore my red flats which are extremely comfortable. And how did I manage to get shoes in my size? - these are from the kids section at Lifestyle :-D

Let me know if you like the OOTD!

Outfit of the Day - meeting friends

Today we met up with some friends for lunch and had a lot of fun catching up. We also met up with another set of friends for dinner the night before. Its always so much fun to catch up with old friends no?

For today's lunch, I went casual in jeans and a white t-shirt with a pink inner. To aad a bit of glam, I added big statement earrings. And while it is not clear in the pics, the white tee has transparent sequins all down the front in horizontal rows.

Let me know if you like my OOTD!

Outfit of the Day - Chicnova white

I had been waiting eagerly for my parcel from Chicnova to arrive and it did a few days back! I was so excited to see the lovely eye print high low dress. Generally I am do not wear much of white because I am more into bright colors (as you would have noticed in my previous posts ;-)). Also, this is my first high low dress and I was not sure how it would look on my petite frame.

But this dress is just lovely. And the high low is not very pronounced. So I am liking it very much! It turned out to be a bit sheer and hence I bought a full slip for it. With that done, the dress looks just wonderful. Its very comfortable and chic and I can dress it up in different ways :-)

I have shown below two different ways in which I styled the dress - one funky, the other one casual.

I would love to know which look you liked. Please let me know through your comments!

Look 1: When I saw the dress, the first thing I thought of was boots! So in my first look, I wore boots. They felt a bit hot because of the sun, but these boots are perfect for rainy and winter season. I used a green bag, green jewellery and a pink watch to add pops of color.

Mart of China - shoe heaven!!!

I have mentioned before that given my petite size, getting clothes in my size is a bit difficult. Well, getting shoes in my size is even more difficult! All the pumps that I own currently have been bought in Japan and have insoles :-(

At least in Japan, I got pumps that I could use with insoles. In India, it is impossible! All that I can get are slip-ons, and those too are a bit big.

So obviously I have been searching the net for websites that have shoes in my size. And I hit jackpot a few days back with ...........

martofchina is a Chinese wholesaler which carries gorgeous shoes in all sizes, including mine! They carry pumps, sandals, wedges, flats, boots ... basically any kind of shoes that you could ask for. And the best thing, they are at wholesale prices. So very cheap!

I have been browsing their shoes catalogue and have put up my wish list below (all below $20!).

Which shoes do you think are the best?

PS: Click on the pictures to take you to that particular page

These are just my choices. To see more, click the link below

And that is not all! The third scoop of the ice-cream (you know how much I love ice-creams ;-)) is that martofchina also carries men's and women's clothes, jewellery, lingerie, bags, accessories and cosplay clothing, again at wholesale prices! And the website has frequent sales so that you could get your desired items at even cheaper prices. What more can one ask for?!!

So I have also put a wish list of bags - from funky to elegant to cute!

If you want to see their entire collection, do visit their website (just click on the name) and let me know which ones you liked :-)

eFoxcity

I visited the eFoxcity website today and was fascinated by the products on offer there. The website offers a rich variety of clothes and accessories to suit every budget!

eFoxcity offers everything from evening dresses to prom dresses under $100. It also offers clothing for men.  So not only can you shop for yourself but also for your other half ;-)

I fell in love with so many dresses on the website. Below are the pics of some of the gorgeous dresses available at eFoxcity. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the website also offered beautiful formal wear for both men and women.

And to round it off, eFoxcity offers lovely, affordable jewellery to make a complete gorgeous outfit that will turn heads.

So have you visited eFoxcity?

Outfit of the Day - its a Wrap!

Today is Raksha Bandhan. This festival celebrates the relationship between a brother and sister. Translated literally, it means Bond of protection. In this festival, the sister ties a rakhi (holy thread) around her brother's wrist and the brother gives a gift in return. With this ceremony, the brother also vows to protect his sister :) I love this festival because of the love it celebrates between a brother and his sister/s.

Hubby's sister came over on Sunday to tie rakhi cause she would be busy in office today. Afterwards, we took her out for an evening of fun. We sure had a blast!

Coming to the topic of the post, I wore a wrap around skirt for the outing. The wrap around skirt in the below outfit is quite old, but I love the colour and design of the skirt. I paired the skirt with a black tee and some matching jewellery and I was good to go!

Do let me know what you think of my OOTD. And do you like wrap around skirts?

Outfit of the Day - casual again

So this is another casual outfit. I got the top from GAP on impulse because I liked the colour. But I was not sure how I would style it because of the uneven hem. I had planned to get the hem altered and make it even. But then I paired it with tights and loved the casual and comfy look.

So the top remains uneven :)

Let me know what you think of my OOTD!

Outfit of the Day - Traditional Again

Today's outfit of the day consists of items from the recent sale haul.

As lamented before, getting traditional clothes in my size is next to impossible. Till date, all my traditional clothes (except the kurta from this post) have been stitched. So it was a pleasant surprise when I came across a kurta in XXS at Global Desi which fit! Also, I found churidars (leggings) which also fit!

And another discovery - the kurta and churidars are so comfortable! This was like having a triple scoop of my favorite ice-cream :)

Anyways, I wore this outfit to office and found it to be super comfy and stylish at the same. What more can one ask for?

So do you like my OOTD? (And yes, I am standing on the sofa in the last pic, just cause I felt like it :-p)

PS: Please ignore my hair. Humidity in the rainy season makes my hair curl and poof :-(

Sale haul!

Yes, I am back with another haul :)

July is sale season, and I of course have to shop in sale! Right? Right!

What I have realized about shopping during sales is that you need to hit the stores within the first week, max the second week, of sale. Else most of the good stuff and many of the sizes are gone. And given my extra petite size, I try and make it during the first sale weekend so that I get enough choice in my size :)

So below are the pics from my sale haul. All the purses have been gifted by my mom (isn't she terrific? :)). So you know where I get my shopping gene from - ;-)

(All the prices stated are the discounted prices)

Jewellery
Necklace - Globus - INR400
Earrings - Fashion at Big Bazaar (FBB) - INR185 per pair
Which is your favourite earring?
Purses (gifted by mom)
Blue one - Rhysetta - INR1,495
Yellow one - INR1,395

 Blue sling bag - Espelho - INR1,500
Green one - Espelho - INR2,300
Top - Mango - INR790
Dress - Mango - INR2,380
Kurta - Global Desi - INR650
I also bought leggings with this which are not pictured here for INR350

So did you like my sale haul? What did you shop for during the sales?
