We boarded the cruise on Day 5 around midnight and after finding our room, having a really late dinner and exploring a bit, it was off to bed :)
On Day 6, we explored the ship (Superstar Virgo), explored Malacca (in Malaysia), the island near which the ship had docked for the day, and then came back to the ship for a bit of rest and total entertainment at night!
For detailed information on Superstar Virgo, please visit the website here (it would require a lot of posts to give all the information!). The ship is huge (at least for me who had never been on a ship before) and exploring it takes quite a bit of time. My suggestion for someone taking this cruise would be to stay onboard and not go to the island cause the ship offers a lot of exploring opportunity. This is for someone who takes the 2-night cruise and the island that comes up is Malacca (I did not find it that interesting an island). For the longer cruises, you will have sufficient time to explore the ship and the islands.
Malacca: When you get off at Malacca, there will be various taxi drivers offering a tour of the city (rates based on the no. of hours). My suggestion is to take one of these tours and explore the city from the comfort of the taxi. Must see places are Christ Church with the river on the opposite side of the road, Cheng Toon Heng temple (Chinese temple), Malaysian Navy Museum and Malacca Straits Mosque.
Night entertainment on the cruise: For hubby and me, this was the highlight of the cruise! The entertainment started with a live show by a couple from Las Vegas (sorry, forgot their names) which included hit songs and dancing with the crew (they even sang Sheila ki jawani!). After this, we rushed off to see "Somewhere in Time" in the auditorium. This show was awesome and really, really worth it. If you are on the cruise in 2013, DO NOT miss this show! After this, we went for Bollywood Night with the crew which involved Bollywood songs and dancing :)
In addition to the night entertainment, the ship offers a lot of activities throughout the day, including entertainment for children. So if you decide to spend the whole day on the ship, you won't be bored.
One piece of information for everyone - while the crew of the ship comes from South East Asia and Australia, the passengers are mainly Indians and Chinese. By my estimation, 60% of the passengers were Indians, 35% were Chinese and the remaining 5% were other nationalities. I am giving this statistic since a part of the night entertainment (and one of the restaurants) is specially designed for Indians and might be a "novelty" for other nationalities :)
It will be return to Singapore and Sentosa Island in the next post!
